1. Our commitment
Bahrain Commercial Facilities Company (BCFC) is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities. We are working to ensure our digital services can be used by everyone, regardless of ability, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time project.
2. Conformance status
We aim for this website to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning and neurological disabilities.
This website is a work in progress. Some pages and features described below have not yet been reviewed against WCAG 2.1 AA, and some legacy content has not yet been updated to the same standard.
3. What we've done
- Structured pages using semantic HTML headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate them.
- Provided text alternatives for meaningful images.
- Designed page layouts to remain usable when browser text size is increased.
- Kept keyboard navigation in mind for menus, forms and interactive components.
- Used colour combinations intended to meet minimum contrast requirements across core page templates.
- Added a Listen option that reads page content aloud.
- Added text resizing options to make text larger or smaller.
- Added a dark mode for more comfortable reading in low light.
4. Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible:
- Some older pages migrated from our previous website have not yet been rebuilt to the current accessible template and may contain formatting or structure that is not fully compatible with assistive technology.
- Some documents (for example PDFs) published on the site may not be fully accessible; replacements or accessible alternatives can be requested using the contact details below.
- Some embedded third-party tools, such as maps and calculators, may not fully meet the same accessibility standard, as we do not control their code.
We prioritise fixes based on impact and are working through these areas.
5. Third-party content
Certain pages link to or embed content from third parties (for example, mapping services or payment providers). We are not responsible for the accessibility of external websites or services, and we encourage you to review their own accessibility statements.

7. How we assess accessibility
We review new pages and features against WCAG 2.1 AA as they are built, and we act on accessibility issues raised through this page. We are also working to review existing pages against the same standard on an ongoing basis.

We may update this statement as we improve the accessibility of the website or as guidance and standards change. Any update will be published on this page.
